Well, hello there! My name is Lucy, and Beyond Bourke Street is my sweet escape from the hustle and bustle of daily living.
When I'm not busy being a medical student, I enjoy baking, reading cookbooks, collecting cookbooks, and spending what is left of my hard-earned cash on cooking paraphernalia. I created this blog with the intention of documenting my eating adventures around Sydney (and beyond!), but it soon became apparent to me (and probably my readers) that I have zero talent for food-writing. I realised that my true interest lay in sharing the details of my successes and mishaps in the kitchen, and this blog has since evolved to reflect that.
[What's with all these photos?, you are probably asking. I don't profess to be entirely devoid of narcissism, but rest assured that my usual entries contain much less pictures of myself. No, these happen to be some of the nicer studio photography shots I had done in China over the summer break, and I like them so much that I am foregoing any sense of propriety and plastering them all over the internet. Say cheese(cake!)]
To be honest, I'm still amazed that I have actual readers. Mine isn't even close to being the most artistic or entertaining food blog out there, but I have put considerable effort into it, and all things considered, I'm quite proud of it. So enjoy, and do drop a comment or two!
